PokerStars ha entablado una demanda legal contra Poker Table Ratings (PTR) por una supuesta violación de los derechos de la propiedad intelectual y de los términos y condiciones de uso de la sala de poker.
Para los que no conocen que es PTR, esta data mining se dedica al negocio de la venta de manos y estadísticas de los jugadores en las principales salas de poker online. De esta manera, los usuarios pueden conocer los resultados de un jugador determinado, llegando incluso a conocer su estilo de juego.
El problema viene por la negativa de algunos jugadores porque los usuarios utilicen PTR para conocer su juego y se sienten en la mesas con una mayor ventaja sobre ellos.
Lee Jones (autor de libros de poker y director de los Home Games de PokerStars) se refirió al tema alegando que entiende perfectamente a los jugadores afectados y que lamenta la lentitud con que la sala de la pica roja ha decidido tomar acciones legales.
El problema, según Jones, es que la gente detrás de PTR ha tomado las precauciones necesarias para mantener escondidas sus actividades y protegerse legalmente. No obstante, asegura que, ahora que ha comenzado la batalla legal, no piensan tirar la toalla hasta encontrar a todas las personas y empresas asociadas a PTR y conseguir que cesen su actividad.
